The Virtual Petersen Car Week Kicks-Off as a Replacement for Monterey Car Week

Dubbed “The Road To Car Week,” from Saturday, August 1 through Monday, August 10, the Petersen Museum will stream multiple video garage tours daily, taking viewers inside the exclusive garages and car collections of the world’s most passionate car collectors.

How does this Petersen Car Week replace Monterey Car Week in terms of exclusivity? Rather well, actually; these private collections are otherwise rarely seen by the average enthusiast, making this video series a remarkable glimpse into garages filled with the types of automobiles most of us dream about.

Visitors to the Petersen Automotive Museum website can also view previously featured garage tour videos, including that of motorsports legends Bobby Rahal and Chip Ganassi, along with Barrett-Jackson auctions chief Craig Jackson. With the Petersen Automotive Museum being temporarily closed due to the pandemic, its website also has photos and information on much of its 300-plus-vehicle collection

This Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is set for the 2020 Nürburgring 24 Hours

The new hardcore Giulia GTAm is all well and good, but Mauro Simoncini had something a little better up his sleeve. Having debuted at the 2000 Nürburgring 24 Hours in an Alfa Romeo 155, he’s now decided to take his very own race-prepped Giulia Quadrifoglio to the world-famous race.

Prepared by Lanza Motorsport, the Giulia will be raced by Scuderia del Portello, a team that has previously taken multiple Alfa Romeos to the N24. The announcement came on the 110th anniversary of Alfa Romeo itself, one that confirms the return of the four-leaf clover to the endurance race after almost two decades of absence.

Tecnomar launches 4000hp V12 Lamborghini yacht

No longer are Lamborghini thrills landbound, as yacht maker Tecnomar has created a high-performance offering in collaboration with the Italian marque. Available from early 2021, the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63’ adopts lightweight construction methods and two mammoth V12 power plants for ultimate performance.

At 63 feet in length, it’s not awfully compact, but thanks to the use of carbonfibre it falls into the ultra-lightweight boat classification, with a weight of 24 tons. Design is inspired primarily by Lamborghini’s most powerful model yet, the supercapacitor-equipped Siân. Its bow lights reference both the limited-run supercar and the Terzo Millennio concept, whilst other elements are said to take notes from Marcello Gandini’s Miura and Countach.

Ford GT reimagined with 700bhp Le Mansory conversion

Though limited-run models from Italy are made in fewer numbers, the latest Ford GT has become renowned for its strenuous application process and subsequent exclusivity. If this didn’t make it exclusive enough, however, three owners can now send their cars to Mansory for a full conversion, drastically changing design and increasing performance.

This is far from a mere ‘decal and wheels’ conversion, with seemingly every exterior component replaced with a remodelled Mansory counterpart. Width has increased by 5cm thanks to the use of new carbonfibre bodywork, and almost every unpainted section now bears Mansory’s trademark checkered carbon weave.
